The blast furnace trough is a channel for outflow of high-temperature molten iron and slag. Refractory castables used in the production process have to withstand several destructive effects:

1 Severe scouring and erosion of flowing high temperature molten iron and slag;

2 Chemical erosion of blast furnace slag;

3 Severe thermal shock of intermittent tapping

In view of the above characteristics, refractory castables for iron runner are required to have the following characteristics:
