What is the difference between castable and rammed materials

1、 Definition of ramming and pouring
1. Ramming materials, on-site mixing of materials, using a pneumatic pick or mechanical tamping, with a wind pressure not less than 0.5MPa. Hand knotting can also be used for areas with less material or less important usage.
Due to the mixing of predetermined refractory aggregates, powders, binders, admixtures with water or other liquids. Therefore, the lining of refractory ramming materials has a low moisture content, dense knots, and better performance than refractory castables of the same material. The disadvantages of refractory ramming materials are slow construction speed, high labor intensity, and a tendency to be replaced by dry vibration materials and high-quality refractory pouring materials.
2. Castable materials are usually poured, vibrated, or compacted on-site, and can also be made into prefabricated components for use.
2、 Application and classification
What is the difference between ramming material and pouring material? Pouring material has high fluidity and a wide range of applications. For areas with less ramming material or less important usage, manual knotting can also be used. The ramming materials are classified according to their materials, including high alumina, clay, magnesium, dolomite, zirconium, and silicon carbide carbon refractory ramming materials.
Castables are classified by material:
1. According to the distribution of porosity, there are two types: dense refractory castables and insulation refractory materials with a porosity of not less than 45%;
2. According to the binder, there are hydraulic bonding, chemical bonding, and coagulation bonding refractory castables.
Castable is currently a widely used amorphous refractory material in production and use. Mainly used to construct various heating furnace linings and other overall structures, it is widely used in metallurgy, petroleum, chemical industry, building materials, power, mechanical industry kilns and heating equipment. High quality products can also be used in smelting furnaces.
The ramming material is a loose material made from silicon carbide, graphite, and electrically calcined anthracite as raw materials, mixed with various ultra-fine powder additives, and electrically melted cement or composite resin as binders. Used to fill the gap between the cooling equipment of the furnace body and the masonry or as filling material for the leveling layer of the masonry. Ramming materials have good chemical stability, erosion resistance, wear resistance, peeling resistance, heat shock resistance, and are widely used in metallurgy, building materials, non-ferrous metal smelting, chemical industry, machinery and other manufacturing industries.
