High alumina low cement castable is an amorphous product in refractory materials. As the name suggests, it refers to a low cement content high alumina castable. Compared with ordinary high alumina castable, reducing the cement content reduces the calcium content, and the amount of water added during construction is reduced, saving time and later strength for the solidification and baking of the castable.
High alumina and low cement castables reduce the amount of cement used, and ultra-fine powder technology is also adopted, which enhances the strength and corrosiveness of the castables. At the same time as reducing the porosity, the amount of water added during construction is reduced, making the baking and later use strength of the pouring material more obvious.
In terms of the current market situation, low cement castables have replaced high aluminum castables because high aluminum castables have a large amount of cement added, high calcium content, and excessive water addition during construction, which has certain limitations on baking and later use. Casting material manufacturers basically no longer produce high aluminum casting materials. All high aluminum series are produced using low cement technology.
High alumina and low cement castables belong to the fourth generation products. The use of powder in the first generation product is not perfect, while the cement dosage in the second generation product is high. While the third generation product reduces the amount of cement added, micro powder technology has not been used yet. The fourth generation product is low cement castables. While reducing the amount of cement added, micro powder technology is used to reduce the porosity of the castables, improve their corrosion resistance, and increase their density and strength. Moreover, there have been significant improvements in construction and baking, especially in terms of increased service life and increased strength in the later stages. This has further established the effectiveness of using low cement castables.
